TLC Design & Decor – White and Wood Beach Condo

Remember last week’s post

when I said this week’s post would be all about choosing white wall paint? Well, I lied (but I didn’t mean to). I just couldn’t wait any longer and had to share the AFTER photos of the beachfront condo in Panama that I completed a couple of weeks ago for my lovely clients.

Being a beachfront condo, I wanted to keep the space feeling light, fresh and airy, but not sterile. A predominately white palette helps draw guests’ eyes out to the picturesque view and allows the shimmering Pacific ocean views from the living room and master bedroom to act as works of art. The “all-white” look where less is more is contemporary, but my clients made it clear that while they like modern spaces, they don’t like the empty look that comes with an all white minimalist space. So, instead of playing with a variety of organic finishes like I did in my last project, I decided to combine the sleek and shiny finishes (think lacquered furnishings, tinted acrylic, chrome details) with warm and inviting natural wood.

When I think of this project, I think of WHITE and WOOD, and how awesome they look together. What do you think? (click to enlarge)

BEFORE (all the "befores" pretty much look like this, so I'll spare you the repetition).

I promise to share some tips on how to choose the perfect white wall colour next week…thought it would make more sense to talk white walls after looking at a few of them first.

Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed this mini tour of the WHITE and WOOD beachfront condo in Panama.

  1. Tania!! I ran to my computer to see the results and omg. You out did yourself! The wood accents are amazing! The dining room table and head board are my favourite. The detail in the bow tie makes it that much more interesting! And the use of the acrylic chairs adds to the contemporary vibe. All your hard work is very evident! Bravo friend. Can we go there on vacation? ;)

  2. So happy to hear you like it! Most importantly, the client did too :) And yes, I knew you would love that table, it is so stunning and the best part is that it can be dinged and scratched and no one will notice!

  5. Thank you. Nicole! The painting in the living room is so gorgeous in real life, it has so much texture, visual and tactile! Thanks for the sweet comment.

  6. Thank you, Markus! I already designed a studio apartment for a boutique apartment rental company in Casco Viejo. you can see photos here:

  12. Tania,
It really is lovely!! I’m so happy it all came together so beautifully for you. I love all the pieces you had made- especially the dining table and the master headboard. The colours are great and of course all the accents-especially the large wall art -is perfect. Congrats!!!

  13. Thanks, Erin! Pin away! The more pins the merrier, I always say :)

Cheers, Matt :) So happy to hear you like it!

Megs, I hope you’ll enjoy your stay at the condo – wish I could have staged it for you, lol, but I’m sure you’ll make good use of the balcony and the lounger!

Wendi – so happy you like it! A major change since you saw the condo in its virgin state. Just to clarify, I had the wood wall feature custom made, not the dining table. That’s a giant slab of Panamanian type wood (even though the vendors told me it was teak). I can’t take credit for that!

This is totally amazing. We can’t wait to stay there this Christmas! Looks like there is even plenty of room for our kids to play :)

  15. Thanks so much for your comment, Kathy. The unit is quite spacious, lots of room for kids and the furnishings are all pretty kid friendly, although they look quite luxurious and upscale ;) Enjoy!!

Tania – Thank you so much for sharing with us. What a beautiful job you’ve done. I love what you have done with the natural dark wood against the white walls and especially the dining table and end table next to the sofa – very rustic and so chic at the same time. You are one talented young lady.

  29. Beautiful job Tania. love the use of wood throughout & the hits of turquoise.

  30. Thank you, Arlene and Sharon! Hope you’re both well :)

  33. Looks fabulous Tania. Your clients must be thrilled. Did you source the feature wall and headboard locally? I love the bar stools too!!!

  34. Tania

Thanks for the comment, Maureen! I’m glad you like it, it’s still one of my favourite projects. I designed the headboard (and the bed, too) and dining room wall, then found a local carpenter to build off my drawings. Luckily, they turned out just how I had expected. you can’t find architectural details like that in Panama, so I had to make my own :)

  35. whoah this weblog is wonderful i really like reading your posts.
