Howdy, readers.
I come with some good news today! The talented Alexandra of Peyton Plates has generously offered to give up a wonderful free gift for one of you – and there’s no catch! (yes, folks, Alexandra will also ship your lovely prize to you free of charge. How sweet is that??).
Alexandra has launched a new Etsy shop called Peyton Plates in an effort to keep up with the high...

This year for the holidays,
I find myself coveting many wonderful things…my list to Santa is going to be longer than ever, so I thought I’d share my “wants” with you so you can add to your holiday must-have list too. (And if you’re looking to buy me a gift, you can check back here haha).
I admit I am not the crafty type (DIY-ers, I applaud you and your efforts to...

I recently had the pleasure
of experiencing a night in the Punta Chame Villas – a small hotel with 15 rooms in the beautiful and remote town of Punta Chame in Panama – and I am pleased to report that I had a wonderful time.
A view of Punta Chame Villas from the road - the beauty of staying in a remote hotel is that are very few tourists or other hotels in the area.
Punta Chame is home...

Thank you to everyone
who participated in Passport To Design’s Awesome Giveaway sponsored by the fabulous Black Baroque – one of my favourite shops on Etsy. Today is the big day – the winners are announced! I decided to draw names from a hat – the old-school lottery method sounded much more attractive than a digital random-generator (especially because some of you had...

European water fountains.
They are painfully charming and essential to making any established city seem more accessible, more friendly. Whenever I see a water fountain in the centre of a piazza, I immediately think “AAAahhhh, THIS is Italy!” (which is also the thought that pops into my mind when I eat a bowl of pasta or order a pizza margherita…). Today’s design election...

Hong Kong is
one of those special cities that titillates your every sense… and since I haven’t had an official DESIGN ELECTION in a long time, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity (two birds with one stone) to have another one.
Ahhhh…Hong Kong.
The smell of fresh noodle bowls wafting through the streets, the sounds of honking cars, yelling vendors, and the dull hum of...

For a week and a half
I have been supervising the removal and replacement of a thatched roof in Coronado, Panama, for I house I wrote about in this post (shown below). It’s been fun to see the transformation happen so quickly, and a great learning experience too.
This is a photo of the original bohio thatched roof in Coronado, Panama.
In case you were wondering: A thatched roof is made from...

This basic kitchen in
the beach community in Coronado, Panama needs some help – and what better place to start than with some backsplash tile?
I’m noticing a trend when it comes to kitchen design in Panama…it seems like the designers and/or architects seem to skimp out on the finishes. I found out this is mainly because the kitchens were spaces reserved for the maids and cooks...

Hola amigos y amigas!
This is the first official post I am writing from my new home in Panama!
Jeff and I arrived in Panama to start a year-long adventure a week ago, as you might have heard from Shannon at Whats Up Whimsy on her November 5th post (click here to read it). We’re here for some fun in the sun and to get some work done, but the work part seems tricky when there’s so much...

It’s time for some good design
that will knock your socks off (or so I hope). Last Friday’s post, To Grid or Not to Grid? got some people talking about the disjointed design of a Florence shoe store. Today’s post will be different. I want to show you a space that completely caught me off guard in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Most eateries, cafes, night clubs and tourist shops in Siem...
